Udall says money will help repair roads, bridges
New Mexico will receive $2 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to repair roads and bridges damaged by the storms of September, Sen. Tom Udall said Saturday.
Repairs are estimated at a minimum of $9 million, the department said.
Udall said the initial $2 million would be through the Federal Highway Administration's Emergency Relief Program.
"We have many weeks and months of cleanup ahead," he said. "I'm very glad that the DOT is making available an initial pool of emergency funds, and I'm committed to doing everything I can to ensure the federal government keeps its pledge to provide the resources and assistance New Mexico needs to make our communities whole again."
